Public Benefit Flying Awards – Tips for Nominating

It’s that time of year again! Nominations are open for the Public Benefit Flying Awards.

These national awards were created by the National Aeronautic Association (NAA) and the Air Care Alliance (ACA) to recognize the significant contributions of volunteer pilots and the outstanding work of those engaged in Public Benefit Flying.

Don’t miss your chance to nominate someone deserving today!

Nomination Tips

Read the Category Descriptions Carefully

Be sure to go beyond the titles and read the award descriptions and criteria carefully. When choosing your nominee, keep in mind the purpose and spirit of each award.

Choose the Right Category

There are five distinct categories of awards. For the best chance of your nominee receiving an award, make sure your nomination fits within the category you chose.

Demonstrate Impact

Nominations that demonstrate measurable, distinct impact are most favorably received. Be specific and use metrics whenever possible (number of flights, number of people served, etc.).

Include All Volunteer Flying Activities

When nominating a distinguished volunteer pilot, consider the entirety of that person’s service activities. Does she fly for multiple volunteer pilot organizations? Include that! Give as much information as possible to paint a total picture of your amazing nominee for the Awards Committee.

Don’t Miss the Deadline!

Nominations must be received by August 31st. Submit your nominations to NAA by email as an attached Word document with “PBF Nomination” in the subject line. The email address to submit to is: pbfnomination@naa.aero. Nominations received after the deadline will not be accepted. Full guidelines and submission process can be found here.
